McDonalds

McDonalds will always hold a place in my heart and tummy. I’ll always remember the days of having birthday parties there. If I remember correctly, I had at least 3 birthdays at the Golden Arches. Everyone else in pre-school was having these kinds of birthday parties, so of course I wanted to have on. I remember one time they still had pizza back then, and my mini-sized pizza fell on my lap.

To say the least, I was pretty upset. Bless the parents of the kid who was having the birthday party, as they got me a new pizza haha.

Going to Mickey D’s as a kid was always the go-to solution for my parents if we were short on time and wanted to grab some food at a good price. It’s the place I’d beg my parents to take me if I did well on a test or had a great little league baseball game. True story.

This love for McDonald’s followed me up until college. You gotta love the dollar menu. As some kid who was living off of a few hundred dollars for an entire semester or even two, the Dollar menu is perfect for a poor college student. It’s awesome food for the end of a weekend night as long as you can somehow get a ride to the place.

The McDonald’s by our school was open 24/7, so of course we’d show up at the weirdest hours, either after a great night of partying or as a break during an all-nighter study session.

After college, this place was the best solution for trying to enjoy food on a budget. After a night out in the local downtown area, it was so tempting as the McDonald’s was on my way home. There’s nothing like their Angus burgers if I wanted to step things up a notch and spend a little more, although I usually went with multiple items from the Dollar Menu. I always like sharing the enjoyment, so I always pick up a little something for my parents went I’d get home. They would always wake up in the middle of the night just to eat with me. It sort of became a tradition after a night out with my friends.

Now, I pretty much just eat it in moderation. Considering my current nutritional habits, although far from perfect, I actually get kind of sick if I have too much McDonald’s or any fast food in general. My body’s just not used to it anymore. So what I do is simply go for that feeling of satisfaction when I eat, but I try not to go overboard anymore. It’s just such a great reminder of the good old days.

McDonalds FriesI want to show you all that it’s still possible to get into the best shape of your life while still having this delicious fast food in your system. Then again, it’s all about finding what your food tolerances are. Some people can’t have this kind of food in their system if they want to see any healthy improvements, while others out there can be in perfect health condition and sport a six pack eating this food.

So what if you’re on the go with only a McDonald’s nearby and you want to eat healthy? Try this out. Order a salad but put aside their dressing. It’s loaded in fat. Buy a few hamburgers or cheesburgers from the Dollar Menu (might even be less than a dollar), break up the burgers into small pieces, and mix these burger bits into your salad. This combo tastes pretty good and is healthy for the most part.

What about binging for those Carbicide Saturdays with McDonald’s? I LOVE the Angus burgers if you haven’t noticed already. So I usually get one of those along with a few McDoubles and McChickens from the dollar menu. I might get a four piece Chicken McNugget, although sometimes I’m just not in the mood for them. To top things off, I always get a large order of fries. There’s just something about the McDonald’s fries that I can’t resist. I think they’re my favorite out of any fast food place out there.
